Adam Roe Painting Helps Prepare New Elton Family Aquatic Center
Adam Roe Painting, Inc. (ARP) contributed to the construction of the new aquatic center at the South Meridian YMCA. Although the YMCA opened in May 2018, work on the aquatic center didn’t begin until August 2019. The Grand Opening was July 1.
The Y, which shares a campus with Hillsdale Elementary, includes a youth development center, fitness areas, a large indoor family play structure, gathering space, gyms and classrooms. As with other YMCAs throughout the U.S., the mission at the South Meridian Y is to strengthen the foundations of community by developing successful youth, engaging people in healthy living, and instilling a commitment to social responsibility.
Mike Kapuscinski, executive director of the South Meridian Family YMCA is a strong supporter of the new aquatic center and championed its construction. He believes that it will have a positive impact on the community, especially for kids.
“There are outdoor pools in Meridian, but as the population grows, we have more and more families and kids,” Kapuscinski said, highlighting that drowning is the second-leading cause of accidental death for kids under 15 in the United States. “This aquatic center will be able to provide swim lessons and access to aquatic fitness year-round. It’s going to have a pretty significant impact on the community.”

The 22,000 square-foot aquatic facility will be open year-round for members. It will host high school swim meets in the competition pool, outfitted with diving blocks and bleachers. It offers many opportunities for water-based fun and activities:
