Collister Elementary School, a cherished part of the Boise, Idaho community, has served generations of students since its establishment in 1912 by a land donation from Dr. Collister. The school recently underwent a significant remodel aimed at preserving its historic charm while enhancing its functionality for modern educational needs. Part of this effort included revitalizing its aged exterior and interior with a fresh coat of paint, breathing new life into the school’s walls while maintaining its timeless character.
Adam Roe Painting was proud to play a critical role in this revitalization. Their team expertly handled the repainting process, ensuring every detail aligned with the school’s aesthetic and structural needs. One of the most significant difficulties we faced was the inability to establish a steady workflow. While the gymnasium was handed over to us in its entirety, the remainder of the school was divided into smaller sections released to us in a staggered fashion. This piecemeal approach created a somewhat disjointed schedule that was an obstacle that required daily attention to detail. Every trade involved in the project was eager to jump into their scope of work as soon as their respective areas became available. This led to a bottleneck effect, with multiple trades converging and competing for time and space, further complicating an already challenging workflow.
Creative Solutions
To address these hurdles, we had to adopt a highly flexible approach to scheduling. Adam Roe Painting implemented specialized methods to monitor progress closely and stay on top of deadlines, ensuring each phase was executed efficiently. By focusing on clear communication and strategic planning, we adapted to these shifting conditions, ensuring the painting was completed on time and to ARP’s high standards, despite the complexity of the remodel.
