Adam Roe first learned about this amazing project during a Meridian Rotary meeting. The existing facility had been vacant for several years and was in need of repainting and updating. The 16 bedrooms, multiple common areas, and a kitchen made this a huge project and The Freedom Youth Foundation was looking for volunteers to help accomplish the monumental task as soon as possible. After hearing about the project and its purpose as well as the mission of the Freedom Youth Foundation Adam immediately offered the help of Adam Roe Painting. Every year ARP takes on several projects as part of their Paint It Forward Program that’s part of the nationwide Painting Contractors Association and this was the perfect opportunity to get involved in the community and paint it forward.
One of the most challenging aspects of the project was the urgency to complete the project. The number of children needing a safe environment to live in is ever increasing and resources are stretched extremely thin. Having a 16-bedroom facility would be a huge help to many children in need. In order to accomplish the complete interior repaint as fast as possible Adam asked the employees of Adam Roe Painting if they would be willing to volunteer a Saturday to paint the entire building in 1 day. The response was a unanimous YES! With the crew onboard Adam also approached Sherwin Williams to see if they would be willing to donate some of the material that would be needed. Sherwin Williams was very excited to be part of the project and generously donated all of the paint that was needed, over 110 gallons!
Having over 40 ARP employees and family members, friends of the Freedom Youth Foundation, and other service volunteers working on the same project at the same time was challenging at times but everyone was excited and ready to help in anyway possible. Prepping, cleaning, repairing, and painting was accomplished with enthusiasm and comradery. Everyone was aware of the need and purpose of the project and were proud to contribute in anyway they could.
It was a long and busy day but the mission was accomplished and the entire facility was completely repainted and cleaned in a single day. The finished product is amazing and everyone who was involved was proud to have been able to contribute.
